8th Grade World History
8th grade World History I focuses on global settings from the archaeological record and the beginning of recorded history until the period of history known as the Reformation and the Renaissance. Students will understand the beginnings of organized society as civilization begins in Mesopotamia and Africa. As people form networks, they develop spoken and written language, government, economics, religion, art and expression and the domestication of flora and fauna. From this point, divisions form within common groups and agricultural networks are replaced by geo-political boundaries. As states develop, religion organizes and monarchs reign and world history becomes a complex, organic entity with many twists and turns that form the backdrop of future events.
